One Direction or 1D are an English-Irish pop boy band based in London, consisting of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. They signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Records after being formed and finishing third in the seventh series of the British televised singing competition The X Factor in 2010. Propelled to international success by the power of social media. The song broke several records, topped the charts of most major markets, and generated hit singles, which include "What Makes You Beautiful", "Live While We're Young" and "Story of My Life".

• Liam Payne

Liam James Payne was born on 29th August 1993 in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England, UK. Born 3 weeks earlier to Karen and Geoff Payne. He has two older sister Nicola and Ruth. Payne is currently in a relationship with model Sophia Smith, from Wolverhampton. 

• Niall Horan

Niall James Horan was born on 13th September 1993 in Mullingar, Country Westmeath, Ireland. Born to Bobby and Maura Horan. he has an older brother named Greg. Their parents divorced when he was five. 

• Zayn Malik

Zain Javadd "Zayn" Malik was born on 12th January 1993 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, UK. His father, Yaser Malik, is British Pakistani and his mother, Tricia Malik, is of Irish and English descent. He has one older sister, Doniya, and two younger sisters, Waliyha and Safaa.  Malik is engaged to singer Perrie Edwards, of the band Little Mix.

• Louis Tomlinson

Louis William Tomlinson, born Louis Troy Austin on 24th December 1991 in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, UK. Born to Johannah and Troy Austin,his parents split up when he was young and he took the surname of his stepfather, Mark Tomlinson. He has five younger half-sisters, two of whom had roles as babies in the television series Fat Friends, on which he appeared as an extra. Tomlinson is currently in a long term relationship with Manchester Student, Eleanor Calder

• Harry Style

Harry Edward Styles was born 1 February 1994 in the village of Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, England, UK.Born to Anne Cox and Des Styles. he has one sibling, his elder sister Gemma. He was seven when their parents divorced; his mother subsequently remarried.
